The Gatsby Gala at Venice Performing Arts Center
Venice Institute for Performing Arts presents:
the Gatsby Gala on January 19th at 7pm
as a benefit for the Venice High School Interclub Council
The Venice Institute for Performing Arts is pleased to present the Gatsby Gala on January 19th! Join us for a full evening of fun – lobby entertainment provided by the Venice High School Ballroom and Drama Clubs, Orchestra, and Chorus begin at 6:15pm, and the red-carpet viewing of The Great Gatsby – starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan at 7pm. The film is rated PG-13. Roaring ‘20s attire is suggested!
The Great Gatsby film, based on the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, follows the life and times of millionaire Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his neighbor Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), who recounts his encounter with Gatsby at the height of the Roaring Twenties in New York state. The film explores themes of decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval, and excess, creating a portrait of the Jazz Age or the Roaring Twenties that has been described as a cautionary tale regarding the American Dream.
The Gatsby Gala is a benefit for the Venice High School Interclub Council. The Divine Hearts Club will also be collecting used eyeglasses for the Lions Club, and in addition to the pre-film lobby entertainment, there will be retro concessions available. General admission is $5.00, and VIP seating is $15.00. We hope to see you at the party of a lifetime!
