Thanks for Giving: Community Relief with the Broadway Boys!
While Venice was spared the worst from Hurricane Irma, which impacted Sarasota County greatly with flooding, power outages, and shortage of supplies, the Venice Institute for Performing Arts (VIPA) is happy to announce Thanks for Giving: Community Relief with the Broadway Boys! All first responders who were ready to risk their lives to ensure the safety of Southwest Florida’s residents, as well as all on-call workers with Florida Light & Power and Comcast will be entitled to two free tickets to our opening event for the season, the Broadway Boys. Additionally, all local businesses who have been helping to restore the community will be entitled to two free tickets for their efforts.
One of the main purposes behind the founding of VIPA is to create a profound and lasting effect on the local community, and to nurture Venice’s cultural and educational outreach. The Institute proudly stands with the City of Venice and the surrounding region in its efforts to heal and move forward after the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma. Using the power of the arts and arts education. In conjunction with the Broadway Boys, some of New York City’s finest and most experienced Broadway performers, VIPA will be honored to not only give away tickets to those businesses and first responders who helped to aid our residents in a time of need, but to partner with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation to start a fundraising campaign and donation-based drive for those who lost their homes and belongings during the storm. We will be collecting non-perishable food, clothing, and baby items to help support those whose lives were affected by the storm. Anyone who brings a donation to the box office will receive a 10% discount on their ticket. Items that are most helpful are:
-canned ready-to-eat items with pull up tops
-protein in pouches or pull up tops (tuna, beef stew, chili, canned chicken)

After capturing the attention of New York City, the Broadway Boys decided to take their show on the road and began touring at various cities throughout the country. Always looking for new projects, they chose to come to the VPAC for a one-night performance, preceded by a master class focused on the development of auditioning skills given to eager Sarasota County residents, with high school students receiving free admission. Performing in groups of six, the Boys explore new harmonies and rhythms rarely presented by Broadway singers. They’ve played concerts in venues large and small, and most recently have been seen on the TODAY Show and America’s Got Talent. The Broadway Boys’ album, “Lullaby of Broadway,” debuted at #6 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart.
With their combined stage experience, the Broadway Boys spend much of their time focused on arts education. From city to city, they hold master classes and workshops to teach eager minds the ins and outs of show biz! They offer talk backs that discuss their time on the Broadway stage, and workshops where students strap on a pair of tap shoes and learn choreography from Broadway’s hottest shows. This September they come to Venice to host a master class, teaching students the “dos” and “don’ts” of professional auditions, and the top three performers will be chosen to join the Broadway sensations on stage later that night!
All Sarasota County School Board Staff and Students get a 30% discount on every ticket. Senior citizens will receive a 20% discount. Community members who donate to our hurricane relief drive will receive a 10% discount. Tickets for The Broadway Boys are $25-41. Tickets may be purchased here or by calling the box office at (941) 218-3779.
