VIPA Welcomes New Board Members to Support Its Next Chapter
The Venice Institute for the Performing Arts (VIPA) is entering an exciting new phase, marked by the addition of four accomplished leaders to its Board of Directors. These new members join current board members Michael and Bonnie Hartley and Bea Holt, bringing fresh perspectives and deep experience to help guide the organization’s future.
Executive Director Derek Blankenship shared his enthusiasm, noting that the arts play a vital role in the community and that the new board reflects the creativity, leadership, and dedication that define VIPA. With their support, the Institute plans to expand educational outreach, present high-quality performances, and continue building a vibrant cultural environment in Venice.

VIPA’s newest board members represent a wide range of professional backgrounds and community involvement:
- Tom Edwards brings decades of leadership in education, public service, and entrepreneurship. A Sarasota County School Board member, he is also active in nonprofit and youth initiatives, including rowing programs for local students.
- Peter Fazio offers extensive experience in business and technology, having led companies in the audio-visual and automotive industries. His long-standing commitment to community service and the arts makes him a valuable addition.
- Robert “Bob” Klingbeil Jr. contributes over 40 years of legal expertise, along with deep ties to the Venice community through his work with civic organizations and nonprofit boards.
- Joy Satterlee, a longtime arts leader, recently retired after more than two decades as an executive director of a major cultural center. She brings a wealth of knowledge in arts programming, nonprofit management, and community engagement.
Looking Ahead
With this expanded board, VIPA is well-positioned for growth. The organization plans to strengthen its educational programs, support emerging artists, and deliver innovative performances in the coming seasons.
