The Broadway Boys come to Venice!
The Broadway Boys at The Venice Performing Arts Center
Venice Institute for Performing Arts presents Broadway’s finest male singers on September 23rd at 7pm
The Venice Institute for Performing Arts is pleased to host The Broadway Boys on September 23rd! Starting with an acting and singing master class at 12pm, The Boys will end the day with a 7pm show of explosive energy and exciting vocals. Formed in June of 2005 for a one-night, New York City club event, these current and former Broadway singers come to Southwest Florida for the first time.
After capturing the attention of New York City, the Broadway Boys decided to take their show on the road and began touring at various cities throughout the country. Always looking for new projects, they chose to come to the VPAC for a one-night performance, preceded by a master class given to eager Sarasota County residents, with high school students receiving free admission. Performing in groups of six, the Boys explore new harmonies and rhythms rarely presented by Broadway singers. They’ve played concerts in venues large and small, and most recently have been seen on the TODAY Show and America’s Got Talent. The Broadway Boys’ album, “Lullaby of Broadway,” debuted at #6 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart.
Their “symphony of sound” aims to introduce audiences to the theatre community and a genre of music they may not be familiar with. A collection of Broadway’s finest male singers, they add many dynamic elements to traditional show tunes, from pop, funk, gospel, and even jazz. Time-honored songs are transformed before each and every audience’s eyes, giving them a contemporary flare that’s sure to get toes tapping. The Boys have performed in a range of Broadway classics, from Rent, to Kinky Boots, to Wicked, Hamilton and even Les Miserables.
With their combined stage experience, the Broadway Boys spend much of their time focused on arts education. From city to city, they hold master classes and workshops to teach eager minds the ins and outs of show biz! They offer talk backs that discuss their time on the Broadway stage, and workshops where students strap on a pair of tap shoes and learn choreography from Broadway’s hottest shows. This September they come to Venice to host a master class, teaching students the “dos” and “don’ts” of professional auditions, and the top three performers will be chosen to join the Broadway sensations on stage later that night!
All Sarasota County School Board Staff and Students get a 25% discount on every ticket. Tickets for The Broadway Boys are $31-$56.
