The Venice Institute for Performing Arts Management (VIPAM) was founded on January 1, 2016, by Mike and Bonnie Hartley and became the management company for the Venice Performing Arts Center (VPAC) on January 1, 2017. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, VIPAM exists to manage the VPAC, expand performing arts education, and present programming that complements the three resident Performing Arts Organizations (PAOs). VIPAM envisions a community where everyone has access to high-quality performing arts and arts education, regardless of socioeconomic status, and is committed to fostering inclusive, diverse experiences that bring people together in both challenging and prosperous times.
VIPAM is also a significant economic driver for the City of Venice, generating over $5 million annually, supporting more than 40 jobs, and attracting approximately 60,000 visitors each year. Continued investment in VIPAM strengthens local employment, boosts cultural tourism, and contributes to the city’s long-term economic vitality.
The VPAC, owned by the Sarasota County School Board, is home to the Venice High School (VHS) Performing Arts Department, which hosts more than 120 events annually, including lectures, concerts, plays, and musicals. VHS students also benefit from the Apprenticeship Program, a pre-professional initiative that provides career-ready skills in the performing arts.
Half of the funding for the VPAC came from the City of Venice, enabling an expanded facility that serves as the home for three cherished organizations: The Venice Chorale, The Venice Concert Band, and The Venice Symphony. Each presents 3–7 performances during the winter season.
VIPAM is proud to collaborate with these organizations while bringing world-class entertainment and education to the community and continuing Venice’s legacy of exceptional performing arts.
