Apprenticeship Program
The Apprenticeship Program offers Venice High School juniors and seniors a unique opportunity to earn a wage while gaining hands-on experience in professional performances at the Venice Performing Arts Center. Students work alongside industry professionals in lighting, rigging, sound, front of house, box office, and hospitality, building practical skills that are enhanced through masterclasses and one-on-one training.
Apprentices must apply and interview; once accepted, they commit to training, masterclasses, and working live performances throughout the season.
In addition to technical skills, apprentices develop essential life skills—creativity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, project management, and empathy. Program alumni have gone on to join IATSE, manage local bands, return as VIPA staff, and pursue a range of academic and artistic degrees at the university level.
